Youth and Sports Minister Dimitar Iliev Thursday presented medal winners of the World Karate Championships and the European Championships of Acrobatic Gymnastics with honorary plaquettes. “Every time you win medals on behalf of Bulgaria, we share your successes with you,” he addressed the medallists.

Iliev awarded Ivet Goranova for winning the silver medal in the women's kumite 55 kg category at the World Karate Championships in Budapest.

The medallists at the European Championships of Acrobatic Gymnastics held in the Black Sea city of Varna were also awarded. Sofia Hristova and Hristiyana Yulieva competing in the 11-16-years age group brought gold medal to Bulgaria. Andriyan Kirilov, Andrian Kachov, Tsvetelin Slavchev and Diyan Tomov received bronze medal in the 12-18-years age group.

Acknowledging their contribution to the Bulgarian athletes’ success, Iliev also awarded karate coach Jovana Prekovic and acrobatic gymnastics coaches Gergana Deneva and Venelin Parvanov. "Thank you for your efforts and willingness to encourage our young athletes to train hard so they can achieve more victories," the Minister said.
