The Vassil Levski National Sports Academy hosted a conference on sports and safety.

Irena Gidikova, head of the Department on Children’s Rights and Sports Values with the Council of Europe outlined key aspects of sports safety, underscoring child safety and sanctioning of hatred speech.

Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova shared good practices, connected with the responsibilities of the local authorities. These include playground safety, including in schools.

The conference continued with academic reports on various aspects and challenges related to sport safety, efficient countering of possible threats at sports events, the potential of sports for prevention of aggression and violence among the young people, hooliganism and racism in sport, personal safety techniques, cyber security, and sports events for the disabled.
