The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) will host a Bulgarian-Ecuadorian Business Forum, organized jointly with the Pro Ecuador office in Italy, accredited for Bulgaria. The event will take place on March 13, at 10 am, at the BCCI, the Chamber announced on its website. The programme includes a presentation of the economic environment in Ecuador and Bulgaria and bilateral business meetings. The working language of the forum will be English.
Ecuador will be represented by companies from the following sectors: coffee production, cocoa and cocoa products production, hat production, packaged food production (snacks, dry fruits, fruit drinks, fruit puree), frozen seafood, food supplements (proteins, collagens, tea, etc.).
Bulgaria imports bananas, shrimp, cocoa, coffee, chocolate, tropical fruits, flowers, and precious metals from the South American country. Ecuador’s agriculture is well developed, as well as the food industry, textile industry, metallurgy, and the service sector, the BCCI noted.
In 2017, Ecuador joined the EU-Colombia-Ecuador-Peru Trade Agreement, on the basis of which tariff liberalization, substantial duty-free quotas, regulatory or technical non-tariff barriers have been eliminated and customs procedures facilitating trade have been introduced. The trade agreement also liberalizes capital movements, investment and public procurement markets.
