site.btaPlovdiv Regional Governor, Ukrainian Ambassador to Bulgaria Discuss Bilateral Cooperation

Opportunities for the development of the cooperation between Bulgaria and Ukraine in the areas of economy, education and culture were discussed during a meeting between Plovdiv Regional Governor Hristina Yancheva and Ukrainian Ambassador to Bulgaria Olesya Ilashchuk, the Plovdiv regional press service reported on Tuesday. A Bulgarian-Ukrainian business forum with the participation of the chambers of commerce and industry of both countries is scheduled.

Yancheva praised Plovdiv's university community for their role in helping the Ukrainian youth in Bulgaria gain the right to free education in higher educational institutions across the country. She added that the agenda included renewing the initiative to sign a cooperation agreement between the regional administrations of Plovdiv and Lviv. The goal is to restore active ties between the two regions.

Ilashchuk reported that since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, Ukrainian businesses have been showing increased interest in investing in Plovdiv and the region, which has led to a rising number of joint Bulgarian-Ukrainian projects.

The talks were also attended by the Ukrainian Deputy Ambassador to Bulgaria Anna Tertychna, Plovdiv Deputy Regional Governor Atanas Tashkov, and the Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Plovdiv Dimitar Georgiev.

The Union of Plovdiv Artists will host a photo exhibition entitled Ukrainian Costumes and Traditions on Tuesday night, part of the charity project Iskreni [Sincere] organized by Kyiv's shopping centre Domosfera. The project authored by Yaroslava Gres and Oleksandr Todorchuk will present 12 large-scale photographs by Dmitry Peretrutov as well as authentic Ukrainian artifacts representing the country's traditions that were provided by the Ukrainian Embassy in Sofia.

An exhibition dedicated to the life and work of the Bulgarian-Ukrainian sculptor and architect Mikhailo Parashchuk will be organized in cooperation with the Plovdiv Municipality in the autumn.
