In July 2024, compared with June 2024, seasonally adjusted services production increased by 1.0% in the euro area and by 1.2% in the EU, according to Eurostat. Bulgaria ranked fourth among the EU member states in terms of services production increase.
In June 2024, services production across fell by 0.8% in the euro area and by 0.9% in the EU.
In July 2024, compared with July 2023, services production increased by 2.6% in both the euro area and the EU. In July 2024, Bulgaria has an increase in service production by 1.1% from 0.9% in June.
In the EU, the production of services grew by 2.3% in transport and storage, by 1.4% in accommodation and food services and information and communication, by 0.5% in real estate, by 2.2% in professional, scientific and technical activities and by 1.7% in administrative and support services.
In the euro area in July 2024, compared to the same period last year, the production of services grew in transport and storage by 3%, accommodation and food services by 0.9%, information and communication by 5.1%, professional, scientific and technical activities by 2.6% and administrative and support services by 2.3%, while real estate activities remained stable.
Among the Member States for which data are available, the highest annual increases in service industry were recorded in Malta - 13.6%, Poland - 9.4% and Lithuania - 8.8%, with Bulgaria being in the fourth place with an annual increase of 8.5%. The largest decreases were observed in Romania (-9.3%), Greece (-6.4%) and Austria (-4.4%).
