Nearly 130 participants from Bulgaria and Turkiye attended a Bulgarian-Turkish Women Business Forum in Targovishte on Friday. The event was organized by the Bulgarian-Turkish Women Business Club and Turkiye's Consulate General in Burgas in partnership with Targovishte Municipality.

The forum enables participants to get familiar with socially significant and economic projects.

"This forum is one more step towards deepening economic relations between Bulgaria and Turkiye as well as people-to-people contacts and friendship. The forum does not just offer an opportunity for sharing ideas and experience, it provides a platform for information and support among business women," said Mladen Velev, Director of the SMEs Internationalization Directorate of the Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency, addressing the event.

He pointed out that women entrepreneurs own between 30 and 35% of companies in Bulgaria.

Velev cited figures released by the World Economic Forum, according to which 32% of managers worldwide were women in 2023. This proportion was 34.7% for Europe, 20% for Turkiye, 42% for Bulgaria (this country ranks third in Europe in this respect), and 37.1% for Targovishte Region.
