"Economic relations with Hungary are developing positively, we have the potential to deepen bilateral cooperation," said caretaker Minister of Economy and Industry Petko Nikolov, who met with the Ambassador of Hungary to Bulgaria, Miklós Boros, the Economy Ministry said on Friday.
It also emerged at the meeting that Hungarian companies have invested over EUR 2 billion in Bulgaria.
Ambassador Boros stressed that Bulgaria is a reliable partner and Hungarian companies operating in Bulgaria are satisfied with the business environment. He pointed out that two more new Hungarian investments are being implemented. The first one, which is related to the automotive sector, will be opened by the end of this month in Stara Zagora (South Bulgaria), while the second one is for the production of solar batteries in the region of northeastern Bulgaria, Boros said.
Minister Nikolov and the Hungarian Ambassador also discussed the possibility of organising a meeting of the bilateral Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation as soon as possible, which would give a new impetus to trade and economic relations.
The two officials also discussed the economic priorities of the Hungarian EU Presidency, which is to begin July 1, the press release said.
