Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC) Chair Ivan Ivanov said here on Thursday that the average increase in the price of household electricity in Bulgaria as of July 1 will be up to 1.39%. He was speaking to the media following a public discussion of the new electricity prices for households held at the EWRC headquarters.

Ivanov said that there is a fluctuation in electricity and natural gas prices on the exchanges, but it will not significantly affect the price of electricity for households for the new regulatory period.

The EWRC Chair noted that prices vary for the three electricity distribution companies according to different factors.

The Commission has proposed an average price increase of 2.74% for Electrohold and 1.46% for EVN. The electricity price for ENERGO-PRO is set to be reduced by 0.95% on average.

In Ivanov’s words, the increase in the price of household electricity is significantly lower than the annual inflation rate. He described the EWRC decision on the price of electricity and heat as an "anti-inflationary factor that supports Bulgaria on its way to joining the euro area".

Ivanov scheduled a private meeting for June 30, when EWRC will announce its decision on the household electricity price.
