A total of 11 industrial zones and parks in this country, mainly in northern Bulgaria, will receive BGN 207 million in grants under the Recovery and Resilience Plan, the Innovation and Growth Ministry said on Tuesday. The grants will be awarded under the AttractInvestBG programme.

Twenty projects have been submitted in a call for proposals announced by the European Funds for Competitiveness General Directorate at the Innovation and Growth Ministry. The requested grants amount to nearly BGN 384 million in total.

The projects approved will be implemented in ten cities: Ruse, Shumen (two industrial parks), Svishtov, Lovech, Sofia, Burgas, Stara Zagora, Vidin, Targovishte, and Sliven. Priority has been given to applicants in Northern Bulgaria with a view to reducing regional imbalances in the country.

Seven of the projects selected for financing are for existing industrial parks or zones, and four are for new and under-construction industrial zones.

A project of Industrial Park LVZ received the highest score of 89 points. It is for the reconstruction, rehabilitation, and development of new technical infrastructure for the Industrial Park LVZ in Ruse, including the renovation of the building stock. The total eligible costs of the project are BGN 33,177,335.86, of which the company's own funding is BGN 7,066,119.73.
