The Executive Director of the Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency (BSMEPA), Boyko Takov told BTA that Bulgaria's participation in the World Expo 2025 in Osaka, by decision of the Council of Ministers from May 5, 2022, is proceeding according to schedule and for the moment there is no backlog.

BSMEPA has a leading organization role in the preparation of the Bulgarian participation in the event, which Takov defined a challenge both for himself and for his colleagues. He stressed that currently there is no change in the originally set budget for Bulgaria's participation in Expo 2025, except for the exchange rate differences between the USD and BGN over the last three years.

Bulgaria has signed a contract with the Japanese company (Daiva Lease Co. Ltd), leasing the Bulgarian pavilion at the event, Takov explained. The next step is the layout of the concept for the internal and external exhibition areas, and finally the actual presentation of Bulgaria. The procedures for conceptual proposals for the visual presentation of Bulgaria in Osaka in 2025 are also pending. Invitations for participation will be sent out to the nationally represented employer and branch organizations.

Takov noted that he has noticed some fatigue from Bulgarians from the same old ways the country always presents itself at such events, and he stressed that he believes that Bulgaria is colorful, modern and has something to show the world, especially in the context of the theme of this World Expo, which is "Designing Future Society for Our Lives".

Takov expressed hope that by participating in next year's international exhibition, that the good relations between Bulgaria and Japan will be strengthened, but he also noted that the responsibility for this lies with the State, private and non-governmental sectors.
