The Bulgarian Energy and Mining Forum (BEMF) and the Kyiv Institute of Energy Projects (KIEP) Thursday signed a Memorandum on Nuclear Energy Cooperation during the 3rd International Nuclear Conference which is taking place in Sofia on January 25-26.

The sides are expected to commit to cooperate in the development and delivery of programmes for the construction of new nuclear capacity. The purpose of the Memorandum is to set out the initial activities the sides intend to undertake within the framework of potential cooperation. They will seek that their joint studies will lead to the implementation of projects related to the construction of new nuclear capacity in Bulgaria and Ukraine, BEMF said in its preliminary information.

KIEP's Board Chair Yuriy Sapozhnikov said that he was very glad the Memorandum was signed and that he hoped for fruitful cooperation.

BEMF Chairman Ivan Hinovski said the document could contribute further to building a bridge between Bulgaria and Ukraine in nuclear energy.
