The government has shown how it will continue to work in the future - by making tangible commitments that can be implemented and seeking the best solutions to problems through negotiations, Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov was quoted as saying at the beginning of Cabinet's Wednesday meeting by the government's press service. Denkov expressed his gratitude to the negotiating teams from both protests for the constructive talks on Tuesday.

"All decisions that were taken - both in the field of energy and agriculture, are in line with the goals and priorities of the government and there was no need for the cabinet to back down," Denkov said. In response to problems accumulated over the years, steps were agreed Tuesday that will benefit both the state and the people. The Cabinet's commitments are to be shaped as documents to be signed by government representatives so that it is clear who will implement them.

In line with the commitments made Tuesday, during its Wednesday meeting, the Cabinet will provide an additional BGN 63 million for farmers. The procedures will be accelerated so that the funds reach them as soon as possible. Work is also under way on the issue of Ukrainian sunflower import which will be allowed only after a quota for Bulgaria has been specified. In this way, the production of Bulgarian producers will be realised with priority and at the same time, sufficient raw material will be provided for the oil processors. This will also generate revenue for the state and people will be able to buy oil at affordable prices.

On energy, work is underway to set up a coal conversion operator, the aim of which is to prepare regions for the development of new economic activities.

Denkov pointed out that what was observed during the talks on Tuesday and in the media is a reflection of the accumulated distrust towards the political class in Bulgaria, whose people have been lied to many times over the years. In the existing situation, the government has to react very quickly and show that the commitments made by the cabinet are being fulfilled.
