Although Bulgaria will not join the eurozone at the beginning of 2024, the country continues to prepare for the adoption of the common currency. Tax breaks and social spending form risks for a state budget deficit above 3% of GDP, Metodiev noted. The government is expected to make a prudent and conservative fiscal policy to meet the Maastricht criteria for the stability of the state, the deputy finance minister said during a conference on the euro changeover in Bulgaria, organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria.
