"In the Midst of Illusions" is the title of a new exhibition that Chavdar Ghiuselev is presenting at Sofia's Rakursi Gallery from March 11 to 29, the event's hosts announced on Thursday. 

"The paintings he is showing were made in recent years and vary in stylistic and plastic solutions, one can say they straddle styles. A body of work slipping between world upheavals, domestic banality, creative longings and the metaphysics of the subconscious," the team says.

Chavdar Ghiuselev was born in Sofia on March 13, 1961. He graduated from Sofia's National Academy of Art, majoring in Illustration and Book Design in 1987. He works in graphic design, illustration, television and theatre scenography, and lectures at New Bulgarian University's Department of Visual Arts. He has staged solo exhibitions in Parma, Milan, Berlin, Prague, Vienna, and Sofia.
