Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev Thursday opened a photo exhibition at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs here to mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and Vietnam, the Ministry reported.

In his opening speech, Georgiev said that Vietnam is a key partner to Bulgaria in Southeast Asia. He added that over the past 75 years, the two nations have built a relationship based on friendship, trust, and mutual respect. "We are proud of the rich history of our bilateral ties, which provide a solid foundation for advancing towards a strategic partnership," Georgiev said, noting that many Vietnamese citizens who studied and worked in Bulgaria during the 1970s and 1980s now serve as an invaluable bridge between the two countries.

The Minister said that cooperation continues to grow both bilaterally and within the EU-ASEAN and EU-Vietnam partnerships. This cooperation is driven by mutual interests in key areas such as economy, investments, education, science and technology, tourism, and culture.

Georgiev expressed hope that Bulgaria-Vietnam relations will continue to strengthen in the spirit of strong traditions, mutual understanding, and friendship.
