French author Agnes Desarthe will meet with local readers on December 15 and 16, Enthusiast Publishing House said here on Monday.
On the first day of Desarthe's visit, December 15, she will participate in the Sofia International Literary Festival. On December 16, she will engage with the local Francophone audience at the French Institute, in an event hosted by French Institute Director Luc Levy.
Desarthe started her writing career with children's books. Her first novel for adults, A Few Minutes of Absolute Happiness, was released in 1993. Besides being an author, she also translates from English. In 2021, she was a finalist for the Goncourt Prize.
Desarthe is familiar to local readers for her novel The Eternal Fiancé, Enthusiast Publishing House said, adding that the book features tales of highs and lows, failures and triumphs, moments of sorrow and happiness, all intricately linked to music.
