The Ministry of Education and Science will coordinate a new project on digital well-being, funded by the Erasmus+ programme with over EUR 783,000, caretaker Minister of Education and Science Galin Tsokov said here on Wednesday.

Tsokov made the announcement during the annual event Green Technologies and Sustainable Development in Education and the Youth Sector: Opportunities through Erasmus+ and the European Solidarity Corps, organized by the Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC).

According to the Ministry's press service, the project involves collaboration with five other countries and aims to address critical issues related to the integration of digital technologies and artificial intelligence in education. It will focus on the appropriate and responsible use of electronic devices, promoting digital education and culture in schools with an emphasis on safety, ethics, inclusion, and media literacy. The initiative also aims to improve overall literacy, combat cyberbullying, and foster responsible technology use among students.

Speaking at the event, Tsokov highlighted the importance of the HRDC's role in managing EU funds for education and youth. Over the past four years, the HRDC has helped secure more than EUR 230 million through the Erasmus+ programme and the European Solidarity Corps for indirect policies supporting education and youth development in Bulgaria.

The conference also recognized 35 outstanding projects from kindergartens, schools, universities, the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, and NGOs, showcasing their contributions to education, green technologies, and sustainable development.
