The 23rd edition of the International Mountain Film Festival will be held within the Bansko Film Fest from November 20 to 24, festival director Natalie Petrova told BTA on Wednesday. To be presented this year are 75 films from 39 countries, including Italy, Poland, Austria, France, Germany, USA, the UK, Tajikistan, and South Korea.
The admission to screenings and presentations will be free. The award ceremony for the best films will be held on November 23. Petrova noted that these are films that are between feature and documentary, showing the wildest corners of the world and telling about the spirit of adventure.
World-famous adventurers will take part in the festival, among which is the Polish ski mountaineer Andrzej Bargiel, who successfully reached all the 8,000-metre peaks of the Karakorum (Pakistan) on skis. Another guest from Poland will be Adam Bielecki, who has achieved success with his daring ascents of some of the most challenging peaks on the planet, including the first winter ascents of Gasherbrum and Broad Peak.
Austrian extreme climbing legend Beat Kammerlander will also be on stage at the festival, as well as Italian explorer Alex Bellini and climber and hiking guide Peter Moser, while two-time winner of the Golden Pickel Award Andrej Stremfelj will talk about his dizzying career in mountaineering on November 22. The Bulgarian guests will include Doychin Boyanov, Kuncho Dolapchiev, Nikola Kalistrin, and Stefan Ivanov.
