Benjamin Mouton, one of the main architects of historic monuments in France, will give two public lectures in Sofia on Friday at the Union of Architects in Bulgaria, the National Institute of Immovable Cultural Heritage reported. His opening lecture titled Heritage and the Return to Simple Ideas will be followed by another one titled The Cathedral of Notre-Dame de Paris: Technical Challenges and Doctrines.
Mouton has been chief architect of historic monuments since 1980. Monuments covered by his work include Notre-Dame de Paris, Arc de Triomphe, Les Invalides, Pont Alexandre III and the Basilica of Saint-Denis in Paris, the Cathedral of Saint-Corentin in Quimper. Lecturer at the Chaillot School in Paris, professor at Tongji University in Shanghai.
Knight of the Legion d'honneur, officer of the Ordre national du Merite and commander of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, commander of the Ordre du Merite culturel and honorary member of the Romanian national commission for historic monuments.
