site.btaSofia Hosts Second Edition of International Flute Competition
The second edition of the MOYSE International Flute Competition is taking place in Sofia, said the Italian Embassy. The opening event was on June 28 and the closing concert is on July 2. The Italian Embassy in Bulgaria, the Italian Cultural Institute and the New Bulgarian University (NBU) co-organized the competition in cooperation with Confindustria Bulgaria.
This competition, created by Professor Luisa Sello, PhD in flute at NBU and dedicated to the representative figures of the world flute art - Marcel and Louis Moyse, aims to expand the existing friendship between Italian and Bulgarian institutions and to promote the new generation of performers, said the Embassy.
The first (online) round of the competition shortlisted entrants from Armenia, Austria, Bulgaria, China, Colombia, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Iceland, Israel, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Japan, Luxembourg, Poland, Romania, Spain, Slovenia, Switzerland, Taiwan, Netherlands, England, USA, Venezuela and Vietnam.
The winners will receive prizes, gifts and concert opportunities.
The competition, whose Honorary Patron is the world-renowned flute player James Galway, together with Gene Galway, opened with a concert featuring all members of the international jury: Janos Balint, Tadeu Coelho, Guoliang Han, Luisa Sello and Matthias Ziegler, all world-renowned concert virtuosos and teachers.
The concert of the masters, which is part of the Sofia Music Weeks, will be held on June 29 at the Sofia City Art Gallery with free admission.
All final rehearsals and the awards evening will be broadcast on the MOYSE International Flute Competition Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/share/aEATMoTDCxP9U95A/?mibextid=LQQJ4d. The final evening with the award ceremony and the winners' concert will take place on July 2 at the NBU.
