Paintings and ceramic art works by Diane Grant will be on display at the Ikar Art Gallery in Sofia between June 25 and August 2. Twenty of her abstract landscape paintings, 11 drawings and eight ceramics will be presented in the Bulgarian capital for the first time, in an exhibition titled Summer Impressions, the hosts said on Friday.

The items were created especially for the exhibition. The artist took on the challenge of starting to work on a summer theme during the winter. All paintings and drawings were created over the last few months, the Ikar Gallery said.

For her abstract landscapes, Grant mixes unusual and varied materials to create unique textures and forms. "She always experiments with bold techniques to achieve a unique harmony of metal, plaster, polyurethane foam, natural objects and recycled things," the gallery said.

Diane Grant is a lighting equipment and furniture designer, painter, sculptor and ceramic artist. From 1994 until 2014 she lived in France. In 1999 she earned a master's degree in art history from Paul Valery University of Montpellier. Since 2011 her art has been centred on sculptural furniture, painting, ceramics and decorative wall panels. She collaborates with interior designers in Bulgaria and worldwide.

Grant has contributed to international art fairs such as PAD London and AD Intérieurs Paris. Works by her are in prestigious private collections in Bulgaria, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, and mostly the United States.
