The world famous pianist, composed and conductor Mikhail Pletnev will perform with the Sofia Philharmonic at Bulgaria Hall on June 16. Trumpeter Stefan Plank will also be guest.

The programme features prelude from Alexander Glazunov’s suite “From Middle Ages”,  Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra by Mikhail Pletnev and Symphony Manfred in C Minor by Pyotr Ilych Tschaikovsky.

Mikhail Pletnev is a prominent figure in modern music. 

With the orchestra founded by him, he performs and records works by Scriabin, Shostakovich, Rimsky-Korsakov, Ravel and Prokofiev. Pletnev has performed with world famous conductors including Claudio Abado, Bernard Haitink, Lorin Maazel and Zubin Mehta.

As a guest conductor he has performed with the London Symphony Orchestra, the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Between 2008 and 2010 he was guest conductor of the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana, and since 2015 he has been conductor emeritus of the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra.

Stefan Plank is a prominent trumpeter who works with orchestras as Viena Philharmonic and the Vienna Symphony Orchestra.
