Video works will be screened from June 16 to 22 in the Eagle’s Bridge underpass in Sofia, the initiators from the Institute of Contemporary Art announced Tuesday.

The event is part of "Living Together", a programme of artistic research and artistic production in the context of the "Superpositions" series of exhibitions. Curators are Katia Anguelova and Lucrezia Cippitelli. The programme is a network of audio-visual projects and installations that will bring together an international community of artists in Sofia.

In the first chapter, “Making”, the Documatism collective and Menelaos Karamaghiolis (Greece), Juan Pablo Macias (Mexico/Italy) and Kamen Stoyanov (Bulgaria/Austria) will present their works.

Dоcumatism is a collective based in Athens composed of filmmakers, artists, curators, historians, social workers, researchers, and educators. Founded by artist and filmmaker Menelaos Karamaghiolis in 2009, through artistic actions, films featuring real-life characters and stories that break barriers and stereotypes, the Dоcumatism team turns film art into an effective tool for those living on the margins of society.

Juan Pablo Macias was born in 1974 in Puebla, Mexico. He lives in Livorno, Italy. He is editor-in-chief of the journals Tiempo Muerto (since 2012) and Word+Moist Press (since 2014).

Kamen Stoyanov was born in 1977 in Ruse, Bulgaria. He lives in Vienna and Sofia. His short experimental film Up and Through was awarded Best Experimental at Dumbo Film Festival 2020 and was nominated for Best Experimental Film at the Long Story Shorts 2020 International Film Festival in Bucharest.
