Vice President Iliana Iotova took part in the celebrations on the occasion of the holiday of Parvomay, Labour Day, and delivered a speech at the opening of the 51st edition of the May cultural festival in the town. She added that all over the world today, on Labour Day and International Workers' Solidarity Day, people are raising their voices in defence of more solidarity, more justice, decent work, and decent pay.

Iotova said that now, when Bulgaria is on the eve of two elections, European and national, it needs real people, well-prepared politicians, who have the ability to look years ahead.

In honour of the town and the municipality's holiday, May 1, the Mayor honoured teachers and cultural figures from Parvomay with the town's badge of honour.

Iotova and Mitkov lit the traditional fire for the May cultural festival on the square in front of the St. St. Cyril and Methodius community centre.
