site.btaDefence Minister, Ambassador of Armenia to Bulgaria Discuss Cooperation in Defence


Minister of Defence Atanas Zapryanov met with the Ambassador of Armenia to Bulgaria, Tsovinar Hambardzumyan, here on Thursday, the Defence Ministry press service reported. The two discussed the long-standing traditional cooperation in the defence sector, as well as opportunities to exchange experience and deepen relations in the fields of defence planning, defence industry, military education, English language training and military medicine.
On the agenda were current challenges of the dynamically changing security environment, the need to increase defence budgets, and global security. Zapryanov noted the importance of strengthening the European pillar in NATO. He also expressed support for Armenia on its path towards joining the European Union.
Particular attention was paid to Bulgaria's role in strengthening NATO's eastern flank and security in the Black Sea region. The parties expressed satisfaction with the good bilateral relations, dialogue, sharing of common democratic values and a common view on defence development. Both sides remain open to prospects involving joint projects and the exchange of best practices in the future.
