A festive New Year's concert took place on the first day of 2024 in the National Palace of Culture (NDK). This was the last event of the traditional New Year's Music Festival.
The festival symphony orchestra with conductor maestro Emil Tabakov played for an hour and a half, with soloists violinist Mincho Minchev and cellist Sion Naiman.
This evening's musical programme included works by Pancho Vladigerov, whose 125th anniversary will be celebrated in 2024, as well as musical compositions by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Antonin Dvorak, Jacques Offenbach, George Gershwin, Aram Khachaturian.
In recent weeks, as part of the New Year's Music Festival, the NDK audience had the opportunity to see two musicals, a folklore concert and an operetta ball. The musical Callas and Onassis, performed bg the State Opera in Varna, opened the festival on December 13, and on December 20, The Addams Family was presented by the State Opera in Plovdiv. On December 19, the Chinari Ensemble presented a performance on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of its establishment. A New Year's operetta ball, organized by the Stefan Makedonski National Musical Theatre with the support of the NDK, took place during the festival on December 28.
The programme of the New Year's Music Festival also included the performance Dangerous Adventures with Sweet-voiced Characters, written by Nedyalko Yordanov and composed by Haygashod Agasyan, on December 16 and 17, a folklore concert for children by the Rosna Kitka children's ensemble on December 16, a Christmas concert by students from the Lyubomir Pipkov National Music School on December 19, as well as a traditional concert of the BNR Children's Choir of the on December 21.
The audience also had the opportunity to see the European Travels chamber concert with the participation of Yasen Zhelev (flute), Svetlana Ancheva (oboe), Rosen Idealov (clarinet), and Nadezhda Tsanova (piano) on December 14, the Brass Christmas Walk jazz concert by the big the band of the Prof. Pancho Vladigerov State Music Academy, with soloists Hilda Kazasyan, Hristo Yotsov and Mihail Yosifov (December 17), a concert of Vasil Arnaudov Sofia Chamber Choir with conductor Teodora Pavlovich, followed by Georgi Toshev's film Vasil Arnaudov: World Conductor (December 27 ), as well as the Mysterious Winter Tale concert by the Secret Orchestra with conductor Nikolay Stoev and soloists Viktor Kostov (piano), Nikolay Velkov (baritone), Sara Peycheva (soprano), Teodora Tosheva (soprano) on December 29.
