Dinko Stoev is presenting his new painting works in an exhibition at the Union of Bulgarian Artists (UBA) from November 10 to 28, the organizers said on Tuesday.

According to UBA, with his upcoming exhibition Dinko Stoev opens the doors to a world he has created, where sadness, horror at the meaninglessness of existence and cruelty reign.

The organisers note that the exhibition is organised around several separate subjects that the artist has been working on for years. "These are scenarios and characters that I can't seem to let go of and that undergo periodic re-evaluation and re-working. It seems to me that the inescapable return to them makes them somehow particularly important, that they are evidence of something persistent in me. Certainly, they are part of the larger theme of my work in general. But they also mark in themselves a particular aspect of my own sensibility and the way I have made sense of it over the years. And in this context, brought to their latest versions, they are also a commentary on the history of this sensibility," says Dinko Stoev about his exhibition.

"Looking back, I can see that for me the world used to look the way it looks today. Even if there were better years, even childhood and innocent years, there was always something painful in them. And maybe before, and now, and for those after us, even if the world doesn't seem so harsh, in fact, it will always be so - bloody nylons will be wriggling in front of our important buildings, we will all grit our teeth, and the fabulous will always be in distress," the author adds.

Dinko Stoev was born in 1958 in Sofia. He graduated in painting at the National Academy of Art under Prof. Ivan Kirkov in 1985. Before that, he graduated from the National Art Institute "Ilia Petrov" in Sofia. He is currently a member of the leadership of the Painting Section of the Union of Bulgarian Artists. He has been a member of UBA since 1985. So far he has presented his art in 12 solo exhibitions. He has won a number of awards. Dinko Stoev's works are owned by the National Gallery, the Sofia City Art Gallery, a number of galleries in the country, as well as private collections and galleries in Germany, Great Britain, the Netherlands and Japan.
