A literary evening dedicated to Portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa will be held on November 8 at KEVA - Artist's Aesthetic Education Club in Sofia, Denis Olegov, organizer of the event together with Kibea Publishing House, said on Wednesday.

The event will be attended by translators of Fernando Pessoa into Bulgarian, among them Kalin Koev, Darinka Kircheva and Nikolay Todorov. 

Fernando Pessoa was born on June 13, 1888 in Lisbon. He grew up in South Africa, where he learned to speak and write in English. He was among the founders of the first modernist Portuguese magazine Orpheus, strongly influenced by Futurism. He published the poem Antinous and the book 35 Sonnets in English in 1918, and English Poems in two parts in 1921. His only book in Portuguese during his lifetime was Mensagem (Message), published in 1934. He died on November 30, 1935, of cirrhosis. Most of Pessoa's work was published after his death.
