The Bulgarian stand at the Frankfurt Book Fair was officially opened, Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Berlin Director Borislav Petranov told BTA on Thursday. The international exhibition started on October 18 and will last for five days, during which the German city will host meetings and discussions with writers, publishers and representatives of cultural institutes. An exhibition dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the rescue of the Bulgarian Jews will also be opened.

Bulgaria's participation with its own stand at the 75th edition of the Frankfurt Book Fair is organized by the Bulgarian Book Association with the support of the Culture Ministry.

The opening was attended by Bulgarian Book Association Board Chair Desislava Alexieva, Bulgarian Consul in Frankfurt Nedelcho Mihaylov, Bulgarian Embassy in Germany Cultural Counsellor Borislav Petranov, Booker Prize winner Georgi Gospodinov, Bulgarian Honorary Consul in the Federal State of Hesse Ingo-Endrick Lankau, International Publishers Association Vice President Gvantsa Jobava, as well as representatives of Bulgarian publishers and booksellers.

The Bulgarian participation at the Fair will continue with a meeting of the writer Georgi Gospodinov with the Bulgarian diaspora and end with the donation of books to Bulgarian schools in Frankfurt.
