site.btaToplocentrala Art Centre Hosts Exhibition by Liesl Raff

Shed, an exhibition by Vienna-based artist Liesl Raff will be unveiled at the Cube Gallery of Sofia's centre for contemporary arts Toplocentrala on Tuesday, the organizers said. Raff's works will be on display until November 26.

The Alabrea Choir will perform at the opening night.

Raff is in Sofia at the invitation of Toplocentrala and the curator Vladiya Mihaylova. The exhibition Shed includes sculptural objects and installations, some of them site-specific to the architecture of the space. The works by Liesl Raff address processes and themes in art that develop further the language of materials, the interaction between them, the process of creating objects and the relationship between sculpture and architecture.

The artist works primarily with latex, as she sees it as an expressive medium that can convey a great wealth of meanings in different forms and in interaction with various other materials.

Raff was born in Stuttgart, Germany, in 1979. Her works have been on display in Austria, Switzerland, Germany and Denmark.

The exhibition at Toplocentrala is realized in partnership with the Austrian Embassy in Sofia.
