The 14th edition of the Evening of the Virtues charity event was held in Sofia on Monday evening. For Our Children Foundation's event aims to raise funds to support children at risk and their families. Attending were representatives of the diplomatic, cultural and business circles as well as local and executive authorities backing the organization's cause of supporting early childhood development.
For Our Children Foundation Executive Director Mariana Taseva told BTA that the event is mottoed "The Evening of the Biggest Family" because the big family is what gives children security and a successful start at an early age. The funds raised will be invested next year and will reach over 3,000 children and families in need. This year, For Our Children Foundation has supported nearly 4,000 children and families.
Family is the building block of society that gives children security and individual care, Taseva noted. Not all children have the luck to be living in the environment of their biological family; that is why the foundation has created a network of services offering a family environment or one close to it, she said.
According to Taseva, it is high time that foster care became a State-delegated, more accessible, and more respected activity.
