Many citizens and guests of Lovech took part in the events dedicated to the World Walking Day, with the main events taking place on October 15 at Bash Bunar park. The participants were then given coupons and everyone who walked the designated route entered a raffle with lots of prizes.

In addition to employees of the Municipality of Lovech, the event was attended by representatives of the Lovech Regional Health Inspectorate and Bulgarian Red Cross - Lovech.

The event also included an outdoor healthcare post, where employees of the Regional Health Inspectorate gave consultations and measured height, weight, body fat content, muscle mass, degree of obesity and kilocalories. A pulse oximeter was used to measure blood oxygen saturation and pulse, and blood pressure was monitored. Prizes and health materials were distributed.

The national sports event for World Walking Day was organized by the Bulgarian Federation of Sports for All, together with the Municipality of Lovech for the 31st time in a row. The event had the financial support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and was part of the implementation of the National Programme for Physical Activity and Development of the Bulgarian Population BULFAR 2021 - 2024. The event was under the auspices of Minister of Youth and Sports Dimitar Iliev.

The initiative aimed to promote systematic activities and especially walking as a physical activity and its role for the health, fitness, working capacity and longevity of people, regardless of their age, gender, social and health status.

On a global scale, the event was part of the programme of the TAFISA Sport for All International Association.
