The music festival "Days of Classics" in Balchik this year will take place from July 22 to 29, the organizers said on Monday. The concerts are free to attend in the open air in front of the Tourist Information Centre "The Mill".

This year's opening will feature a guest appearance by guitar duo CARisMA, featuring Magdalena Kaltcheva and Carlo Corrieri. The duo visited the festival ten years ago, organiser Sava Tiholov from Balchik Municipality told BTA. They will perform works by Chopin, Rossini and Vivaldi as well as pieces by contemporary composers such as Karl Jenkins, Stanley Meyers, Astor Piazzolla and Vicente Amigo.

The Golden Horn Brass Quintet comes from Turkiye for the festival, with a programme that includes popular tunes by Georges Bizet, Henry Mancini and Antonio Carlos Jobim, as well as pieces by Turkish composers. Their performance is on 24 July.

The representative brass band of the Navy with conductor Georgi Zayranov will perform compilations of hits by Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson, Queen, Pink Floyd, and Deep Purple.

The Bulgarian Chamber Orchestra - Dobrich is again invited for the event. In the concert on 26 July the ensemble will play "A Little Night Music" and “Divertimento” by Mozart, “Suite in the old style” by Schnittke, “Two Pieces for String Orchestra” by Pancho Vladigerov, Waltz from "Serenade for Strings" by Tchaikovsky and “Palladio” by Karl Jenkins.

The Pleven Philharmonic Orchestra with conductor Yordan Kamdzhalov will close the Days of Classics in Balchik. The orchestra will perform well-known and beloved works by Tchaikovsky, Grieg, Sarasate, Bizet and Strauss. The soloist will be violinist Atanas Marinov, who will perform "Carmen Fantasy" by Sarasate, “Caprice No. 24” by Paganini and “Csardas” by Monti.
