site.btaBalchik to Host Italian Culture Week

On July 21, the Cultural Centre “The Palace” in Balchik is launching the Week of Italian Culture with the exhibition "The World of Opera in Pictures" and a concert by the State Opera Varna, the cultural centre said on Wednesday.

The Week of Italian Culture is part of the project "Opera - the Musical Painting", containing a series of multi-genre events taking place in Bulgaria and Italy. The works from the exhibition will be on display in various art spaces, some of which are “The Palace” in Balchik, the Varna Art Gallery "Largo", the halls of the opera houses in Varna and Sulmona (Italy), the Ancient Palace “Rospigliosi” in Rome, and the “Boris Hristov” Museum in Sofia.

The exhibitions will open with concerts of the soloists and orchestra of the State Opera Varna with guest soloists from Italy. This year's Aquila D'Oro International Awards focus on classical artists with an international and lasting contribution. The idea of the project is to showcase discovered and undiscovered intersections of opera with other genres of art, the organizers said. 

The project is carried out jointly with the Italian Consular Correspondent in Varna Dr. Antonio Tarquinio, the Embassy of Italy in Sofia and the Italian Cultural Institute. The Italian Culture Week is under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture.  

The opening will be attended by Italian Ambassador Giuseppina Zarra, Director of the Italian Cultural Institute in Bulgaria Maria Mazza, the Consular Correspondent of Italy in Varna Dr. Antonio Tarquinio. The exhibition will be opened by the director of the Palace, Zheni Mihaylova, the project manager Dimitar Stoynov, curator of the exhibition Nelly Valcheva, and director of the State Opera Varna Daniela Dimova. 

The audience will have the opportunity to enjoy an opera gala concert by State Opera Varna with guest soloist Chiara Tarquini from Italy.
