Weather conditions are not suitable for hiking in the mountains, the Mountain Rescue Service (MRS) of the Bulgarian Red Cross told BTA on Saturdaymorning. There are currently very strong winds at high altitudes, with snow falling in places.

They added that the lifts at Borovets winter resort are not working due to the strong winds.

On Friday, the MRS teams helped a woman with a knee injury to descend from the area above Macedonia Hut.

National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology's mountain weather forecast: Overcast with snow, rain showers bellow an altitude of 1,300 metres. Strong northerly wind. Highs: around 3C at 1,200 metres, around 2C at 2,000 metres.
