Customs officers have seized 500 kg of contraband sexual stimulant during an inspection of a truck at the Vidin-Calafat Danube Bridge border checkpoint, the National Customs Agency said on Wednesday.

The truck, driven by a Bulgarian national en route to Germany, was stopped for inspection on March 20. During the check, customs officers discovered 23 boxes containing 22,000 heart-shaped chocolates labeled as containing Epimedium, a sexual stimulant, as well as 15 boxes of folded packages with the Bufalo energy chocolate logo and inscriptions in Turkish. The goods lacked documentation verifying their origin and were therefore confiscated. An investigation is underway to determine the source of the products.

The inspection is part of the security measures following Bulgaria’s entry into the Schengen area, the press release said.
