Bulgarian Patriarch Daniil received the Ambassador of the State of Palestine Nasri Khalil Salim Abu Jaish at Sofia Metropolitanate on March 18. The meeting was also attended by the Chief Secretary of the Holy Synod and Bishop of Melnik Gerasim, Sofia Metropolitanate said on its website Thursday.

The Bulgarian Orthodox Church prays for peace in the Holy Land, for the immediate cessation of war and violence, His Holiness said and expressed the hope that the difficulties and the crisis would be overcome soon.

During the talks, the sides also discussed the difficult situation in Palestine, as well as the humanitarian aid needed to help the local population in Gaza.

The Ambassador of Palestine expressed the hope that Patriarch Daniil would visit the Holy Land at the earliest opportunity, when the situation allows. He also highlighted the traditionally good relations between Bulgaria and Palestine, the press release said.
