Veliko Tarnovo University, in partnership with the Bulgarian Red Cross in the town, is organizing a blood donation campaign for the injured people in the tragic incident in Kocani in the Republic of North Macedonia, the university's press centre said on Tuesday.

Students and employees of the university who wish to donate blood can participate in the campaign every day from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. until March 28 at the Blood Donation Centre at the Dr Stefan Cherkezov Hospital. The Bulgarian Red Cross in Veliko Tarnovo commented to BTA that they are ready to assist all citizens, representatives of institutions and organizations who want to join the blood donation campaign.

The university's Student Council recalled that this is the second blood donation campaign involving young people studying at the university since the beginning of 2025.

The fire that erupted early Sunday during a concert at a nightclub in Kocani resulted in 59 fatalities and injured more than 150 people. Some of the victims have been taken to Bulgaria, Greece, Turkiye, and Serbia for treatment. Fourteen of the injured are currently receiving medical care in Bulgaria.
