Bulgaria mourns with the brotherly people of North Macedonia, said Chair of the National Assembly Nataliya Kiselova on Tuesday. She visited the Embassy of North Macedonia to offer condolences for the victims of the nightclub fire in Kocani.

"This sorrow reminds us that during tragic times, we need to support one another," Kiselova said, hoping that the grief will be more bearable despite the great loss.

"These were young people just beginning their lives, and for their families, everything has now changed," she added.

Earlier in the day, President Rumen Radev and Vice President Iliana Iotova also extended their condolences, and the government declared March 18 a national day of mourning for victims of the tragic events in Kocani.

The fire that erupted early Sunday during a concert at a nightclub in Kocani resulted in 59 fatalities and injured more than 150 people. Some of the victims have been taken to Bulgaria, Greece, Turkiye, and Serbia for treatment. Fourteen of the injured are currently receiving medical care in Bulgaria.
