Burgas Hospital opened a second Angiography Ward on Thursday, said the the hospital's press centre.

The opening ceremony was attended by Burgas Hospital Executive Director Dr Boyko Mirazchiyski, Burgas Mayor Dimitar Nikolov and Regional Governor Prof Maria Neykova.

The new ward is located in the Cardiology Department and diagnostics and treatment of cardiovascular diseases will be carried out there. It has got high-tech equipment, which includes a high-end mobile X-ray machine, a control room with the necessary computer configuration, among other things.

Burgas Hospital is the only hospital in Burgas Region that has such a high-end system for visualization of interventional images. Thanks to the clear image, cardiologists can make decisions in real time, apply innovative and patient-friendly approaches, the press centre pointed out, adding that one of the biggest advantages of the device is the lower radiation doses to the patient, which can be monitored in real time.

"The time for diagnosis and treatment is also reduced, we can work more efficiently and take care of more patients in a shorter time," said Dr Svetoslav Gogov, Head of the Cardiology Department.

The press centre noted that until recently, Burgas Hospital only had one angiography room, in which the Vascular Surgery Clinic and the Cardiology Department combined their schedules. With the new acquisition, this inconvenience is eliminated. The first angiography room remained for the purposes of the Clinic of Vascular Surgery only, while the new sector will be available only to the Cardiology Department.

The investment in the equipment and the large-scale renovation is worth over BGN 2 million, of which nearly BGN 300,000 is financed by the hospital's own funds, while the rest is targeted funding from the Health Ministry.
