The section of the Trakia Motorway between Burgas and Karnobat was closed on Wednesday due to heavy snowfall, Elena Ivanova from the Burgas Regional Road Administration told BTA.
Traffic was prohibited in both directions as 11 snowploughs work to clear the affected stretch of the motorway. Drivers were being redirected along the I-6 Karnobat – Aytos – Burgas road as a bypass route.
Burgas Region was experiencing strong winds and reduced visibility, with temperatures ranging from minus 3C to 0C.
Traffic on the 35-kilometre section of the motorway was restored at 2 pm the same day. The Burgas Regional Road Administration noted that the route was cleared and sanded and that it was already passable. The teams of the road maintenance company remained on the ground and activities in the section continued, to ensure the safe movement of vehicles.
