Democracy, Rights and Freedoms - MRF (DRF - MRF) is aware of its responsibilities. The government should not be shaken, Floor Leader Dzhevdet Chakarov told journalists here on Thursday. He was commenting on the vote held earlier in the day to include in Parliament's agenda a draft resolution on the establishment of an ad hoc committee into MRF - New Beginning Floor Leader Delyan Peevski. The draft, tabled by Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria, was rejected after a re-vote thanks to GERB-UDF, BSP - United Left, and There is Such a People (TISP).
Chakarov described the votes against from GERB-UDF, BSP - United Left, and TISP as unacceptable for his parliamentary group, particularly since first BSP and then TIPS signed in favour of a sanitary cordon around Peevski. "Let them say whether they have dependencies or not [on Peevski]. Our position is clear and firm: the Peevski model should be deconstructed, and the functioning of all bodies and institutions should be normalized," Chakarov said.
He recalled that the DRF - MRF had come up with clear motives and arguments why they were involved in the formation of the current parliamentary majority, namely to finally find a solution and a way out of the political crisis. "We are responsible to the country for the normal functioning of the State and the people we represent. There is still tension, fear, and repression - this must be overcome. We also have other strategic goals for the country; the most important is to adopt a budget that will set adequate social spending for all policies, to ensure the normal functioning of municipalities and to work to reduce the differences in living standards in different regions," Chakarov said. "We will follow our principles, we will be responsible to the country," he added.
