Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev met with the Grand Mufti of Bulgaria, Mustafa Hadzhi, here on Monday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said. Minister Georgiev stressed the important role of the leaders of the established religious denominations in Bulgaria in maintaining the unique model of peaceful coexistence, tolerance and unity of Bulgarian society. 

The Grand Mufti expressed his great satisfaction with the meeting and the attention the State is paying to the Bulgarian Muslims. 

The sides also discussed the possibilities of continuing the already established good cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Grand Mufti's Office in support of the tasks facing Bulgarian diplomacy and on issues that benefit the State and Bulgarian society. Georgiev underscored that the Bulgarian foreign policy will rely, as before, on support in the efforts to maintain the good image of Bulgaria in the countries of the Islamic world, and to create favorable preconditions for further development of relations with them.

On February 6, Foreign Minister Georgiev met with the head of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Daniil.
