Justice Minister Georgi Georgiev will meet with representatives of the courts in the country with the first one already held in Plovdiv, the Justice Ministry said on Tuesday. Georgiev met with the administrative heads of the appellate, district and regional courts in the city, the statement said.
The purpose of the discussions was for the Minister to brief the judges on the Ministry's priorities, with an emphasis on speeding up the judicial process. Another topic under discussion is the improvement of the legislative framework in the context of court workload, the Ministry said.
At the end of January, Georgi Georgiev announced plans to establish an independent unit within the Ministry of Justice, staffed with trained experts who will be available to assist courts nationwide as needed.
