First-reading discussions on budget and tax bills were dropped from the agenda of the first meeting of the newly formed National Assembly Committee on Budget and Finance on Tuesday. The proposal came from Pavela Mitova of the There Is Such a People parliamentary group.
The postponed discussions concern the bills on the 2025 state budget, the public social insurance budget and the National Health Insurance Fund budget, and draft amendments to the Personal Income Tax Act, the Corporate Income Tax Act and the Excise Duties and Tax Warehouses Act. All items were moved by the Council of Ministers.
The matters which remained on the day's agenda of the Budget and Finance Committee include internal rules for the committee's procedures, a hearing of caretaker Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Lyudmila Petkova on the 2025 state budget, and the first committee-level readings of the Value Added Tax Bill and the Bill on the Collection of Revenues and the Commitment of Expenditures in 2025. The latter bill is intended to fill the gap until the 2025 State Budget Act is adopted.
