Bulgaria's Chief of Defence, Admiral Emil Eftimov, Wednesday said most NATO and EU countries have signed Agreements on Security Cooperation with Ukraine. He was answering a question about an Agreement on Security Cooperation which will be signed between Bulgaria and Ukraine.
Eftimov and Defence Minister Atanas Zapryanov held the traditional end-of-year video conference with the national commanders of the Bulgarian military contingents in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo and Iraq.
The Agreement on Security Cooperation with Ukraine has been in the works for some time, the government has been working on it since around the NATO Summit in Washington, DC, in July, Admiral Eftimov told the press.
In late November, the Council of Ministers approved the signing of an updated draft Agreement on Security Cooperation between Bulgaria and Ukraine, which had been approved as a basis for negotiations by a decision of the Cabinet of October 4.
Bulgaria's Foreign Minister Ivan Kondov and Ukrainian Ambassador Olesya Ilashchuk Tuesday discussed the agreement. The Foreign Ministry in Sofia said the document had been finalized recently during expert consultations with Ukraine and had been approved by a decision of Bulgaria's Council of Ministers.
