site.btaUPDATED Vazrazhdane Ready to Form Cabinet If Asked, Leader Says
Vazrazhdane is ready to form a cabinet if it is asked to do so, leader Kostadin Kostadinov said during a meeting with President Rumen Radev on the second day of consultations before Parliament tries to form a government. "We are ready to take the responsibility. We can talk with the other political forces, leaving behind personal animosities. We always talk policies," Kostadinov said as he was asked by the President under what conditions his party would form a government.
On the first day of consultations, President Radev met with GERB-UDF and Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB).
Kostadinov said, "In the recent days, we see key political figures behaving as if they are having a condominium dispute. In politics we need people who put the national interests first. [...] We are here to say that right now we have a very serious problem, as a nation and a state, and it gets worse due to the lack of measures."
According to Vazrazhdane, "anything that will be done on the first [GERB's] or the second [CC-DB's] mandate for forming a government, will be profoundly unprincipled and will extend the agony of the status quo".
Vazrazhdane believes that the government priorities should be about "the survival of the energy system which is in a grave crisis, the water rationing that has been set in place in parts of the country, and the need of a capital investment programme for the next 20 years".
Kostadinov said that Bulgaria has a "eurozone fetish" and the 2025 state budget is dominated by it. "In the name of this fetish, they sacrifice the interests of millions of Bulgarians and restrict the capital programme of Bulgarians," he added.
Vazrazhdane's view is that the budget sets in place "a most restrictive framework that dooms the entire country and millions of Bulgarians to suffering in the next 12 months or more".
