Dragomir Stoynev MP of BSP-United Left Sunday said the two largest parliamentary forces - GERB-UDF and Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) - should start talking between themselves. Interviewed by the Bulgarian National Radio, Stoynev, who is one of seven Deputy Chairpersons of Parliament, said a government cannot be formed unless either of those two coalitions or both participate in it.
President Rumen Radev Saturday said from Paris he would open consultations with the parliamentary forces on December 10 before handing the first government-forming mandate.
Stoynev recalled that BSP-United Left is the fifth largest out of eight parliamentary groups and cannot be expected to solve all problems. "We are the only left-wing party in Parliament, there are enough right-wing ones with which GERB-UDF and CC-DB can coalesce. If they cannot find a solution, they can always turn to the oldest, most sensible political force, and we may help in the interest of the country because we have always made and supported sensible proposals," he said.
He urged all right-wing forces to find a solution, stressing that an eighth consecutive election would not be a good option.
GERB-UDF has 69 MPs and CC-DB has 37 in the 240-seat Parliament. BSP-United Left holds 20 seats.
Stoynev also said GERB-UDF's support for Nataliya Kiselova's election as Parliament leader had been very important so that the MPs could start work.
BSP-United Left nominee Kiselova was elected at the 11th attempt since the new Bulgarian Parliament opened what was technically its first sitting on November 11.
