site.btaConfederation of Independent Trade Unions Wants BGN 1,077 Minimum Wage in 2025 State Budget

The Confederation of Independent Trade Unions (CITUB) want to see a minimum monthly wage of BGN 1,077 to be guaranteed in the 2025 State Budget, said CITUB's President Plamen Dimitrov at a press conference on Tuesday in Burgas. 

He pointed out that the wage increase of at least 10% in the budget system was decided and voted without objections and without any changes. "It is clear that there will be no wage freeze, no matter who says what", he stressed, adding again that there is an agreement for a 10% minimum increase in all wages paid by the government.

He noted that the discussion about the pension system should be put back on the table, adding that the Finance Ministry was scared and took a step back from rejecting the 3% increase in pension insurance contributions.

Dimitrov emphasised that he expects protests from all branches that do not get the wage increase they were promised by law, including teachers and employees of the agriculture, culture and health care sectors.

He stressed that if the expected balanced approach in the state budget is not achieved, people will take to the streets. "They will have this right, and we will lead them because the balance is possible," he also stated.
