site.btaCC-DB Requests Information from Head of National Service for Protection оn Reasons for Providing Delyan Peevski with Cars

The parliamentary group of Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) requested a statement from the head of the National Service for Protection (NSP), Major General Emil Simeonov Tonev, about why the service provided cars to MP Delyan Peevski, said CC-DB co-leader Kiril Petkov on Facebook. The letter to General Tonev was also sent to President Rumen Radev.

"In recent days, we have noticed that while Mr Delyan Peevski is driving a private car, he is accompanied by two NSP vehicles", Petkov wrote, adding that one of the escort vehicles is among the three most expensive vehicles in the NSP. He stressed that providing NSP cars to MP Delyan Peevski as an escort is against the rules, established by the NSP for persons under protection. 

The National Service for Protection Act stipulates that all types of security are provided to the President, the Chair of the National Assembly and the Prime Minister of Bulgaria. In the event of a specific threat to the person in peacetime, security shall be provided to other persons related to national security, the infringement of which would undermine, weaken or create difficulties for the authority of the Republic. 

"I want to tell all Bulgarians that Peevski is neither so scary, nor so strong and if they stop being afraid of him, he is Mr Nobody", Kiril Petkov said earlier on Friday.
